A sample comment report. Percentages refer to the comments analyzed, with positive and negative reactions shown separately.

Two categories, one clear definition

Negative means the comment was classified as expressing a negative reaction. Positive includes all other analysed comments: praise, interest, questions and other participation without a negative reaction.

This is Renfluence’s engagement-based definition. A positive label does not necessarily mean that someone likes or recommends the product.

What that looks like in comments

Consider three illustrative comments under a product video. “This solved my problem” is positive. “Does it come in blue?” is also positive under Renfluence’s definition: the person participates and asks a question without expressing a negative reaction. “It broke on the first use” is negative.

Read each real comment with the video and relevant replies. The subject matters too: a comment can concern the creator, the content, a product or a service experience. A complaint about delivery and criticism of the creative can both be negative while suggesting different actions.

Read percentages against the analysed sample

In an illustrative sample of 100 analysed comments, 85 are positive and 15 are negative. The report shows 85% positive and 15% negative. The two counts add up to the analysed sample.

Here, 85% means that 85 of those comments fall within Renfluence’s positive-engagement definition. It is not a measurement of every viewer’s opinion. Keep the number of analysed comments, the covered videos and the period alongside the percentages. Comments that were unavailable or not analysed are outside this calculation.

Use recurring questions and complaints

Group recurring questions separately from complaints, then decide what each group needs. A repeated question about a product feature may become the next explainer video. Delivery complaints may need a customer-service response instead of a different creative brief.

Brands, agencies and creators can use the same review. Compare comments from a relevant period, note the sample size and read important replies in context, especially when humour or a short response makes the meaning unclear.
